A valuable personal book collection of Professor Indra Dassanayaka, late Professor of the Department of Hindi, University of Kelaniya was donated to the Main Library, University of Kelaniya, on 13^th March 2023.

This donation was officially handed over to Vice-Chancellor Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva on that day with the aim of increasing the number of reading materials related to the Hindi language in the main library and as a tribute to Professor Indra Dassnayake.

The collection of over 2,000 rare and valuable books selected from the personal collection of Professor Indra Dassanayake is housed in the ‘Rare’ section of the main library. Also, the remaining valuable books will be handed over to the Department of Hindi of the University of Kelaniya.

Senior Professor Lakshman Seneviratne, Head of the Department of Hindi, Mr. Ananda Abeysundara, Dr. Anusha Salwathura, of the Hindi Department, Dr. Tharanga Ranasinghe Senior Assistant Librarian, and other senior library staff, Mrs. Vastala Dasanayake, the daughter of Professor Indra Dasanayake participated in this event. Mrs. A. P. U. De Silva, Senior Assistant Librarian (Acquisitions), University of Kelaniya coordinated this book donation program.
