Athletes and IUC Teams of the University of Kelaniya Recognized at SLUSA Awards Ceremony 2022

‘SLUSA Awards 2022’ organized by the Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association (SLUSA) was held on the 10th of May 2023 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Forty-Eight undergraduate athletes and three sports teams; the Carrom team, Karate team, and Rugger team of the University of Kelaniya who won the Championship at the Inter-University Championships (IUC) 2022 were recognized at the SLUSA Awards Ceremony 2022. Accordingly, 483 undergraduate athletes from 21 sports disciplines were awarded at the ceremony.  Forty-eight undergraduate sportsmen and sportswomen of the University of Kelaniya were also awarded colors for their individual performance shown at the IUC 2022.

Professor Upul Subhasinghe, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura participated as the chief guest of the ceremony.  Vice-chancellors, Sports Advisory Board Chairmen, Registrars, Bursars, Directors of Physical Education of SLUSA member universities, and Office bearers of SLUSA were also present at the awards ceremony. Senior Professor S. R. D. Kalingamudali, the Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Kelaniya and the Chairman of the Sports Advisory Board, Mr. G. G. U. Saman Kumara, Acting Director of Physical Education, and Instructors in Physical Education of the University of Kelaniya were also present at the occasion.
