The University of Kelaniya signed a Data Licensing Agreement with the Cambridge Enterprise Limited of the University of Cambridge on the 30^th of May 2023 virtually via Docusign.

This is the first data licensing agreement that the University of Kelaniya has signed with a foreign company.

The agreement was officially signed on behalf of the University of Kelaniya by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, the Registrar of the University of Kelaniya. Mr. Marcio Siqueira, the Head of Physical Science signed the agreement representing Cambridge Enterprise Limited.

Under the terms of this agreement, Cambridge Enterprise Limited acquires a license to utilize a dataset obtained through an observational study conducted by Professor Sachith Mettananda, of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya. Further, this dataset which is generated through a study conducted among patients with thalassemia will be used by the University of Cambridge to support a new patent application.
