French Language Day celebration was organized by the Library, University of Kelaniya on 20^th March 2024 at the library premises with the participation of Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya as chief guest of the event.

A distinguished group including Madam Aurelie Vollerin, Education et Cooperation Attachee, Cultural and Cooperation Service Colombo, Madam Cecilie Hooreibeke, Director of Alliance France, Ms. Olivia BELLEMERE, Cultural and Cooperation Counselor, French Embassy in Sri Lanka & Maldives, and Mrs. Yeshmin Rajapaksa, who has a natural knowledge of the French language, participated in this French Language Day celebration as special guests.

Professor Sarath Amunugama, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya delivered a speech and donated books at the event. On this day, a mini-exhibition and students’ performance related to the French language were presented. Dr. C. C. Jayasundara, the Librarian and Library Staff, Academic and Non-Academic Staff, Undergraduates, School Students, and many others interested in the French language participated in the event.
