Four academics from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, have been included in the 2024 Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List,

an annual global ranking that highlights the most influential researchers based on their citation impact and contributions to their fields. Compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier, this list identifies scientists whose work has made a significant impact on the global research community. Those included in the 2024 list are, Emeritus Professor Janaka de Silva (Medicine: career-long and single-year categories), Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University (Parasitology: career-long and single-year categories), Professor Anuradhani Kasturiratne, (Public Health: single-year category), and Senior Professor Asita de Silva (Pharmacology: single-year category). A total of 25 Sri Lankan scholars from seven universities and three research institutes were included in the 2024 list.
