145th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya

The 145th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 18th of October 2024 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.
The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1st session, 05 graduands of the Master of Analytical Chemistry (One Year) Degree, 493 graduands of the Master of Arts Degree, and 36 graduands of the Postgraduate Diploma, offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies were conferred.
During the 2nd session, 92 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy, 85 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree, 24 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Entrepreneurship, 113 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Human Resource, 30 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Financial Management, 36 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Business Technology, 60 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance, and 43 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Financial Engineering, offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies were conferred.
At this session, Mr. Hewa Palanda Withanage Pamoda Jayasanka was awarded the Venerable Kiriwaththuduwe Sri Pagnasara Nayaka Thero Memorial Gold Medal, offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor’s Honours examinations of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; the Gold Medal offered by the Bank of Ceylon as the most outstanding student of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; the Gold Medal offered by Chartered Financial Analysts Society of Sri Lanka to the most outstanding student in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance; the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, for obtaining the highest marks in the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance; and the Gold Medal offered by the Securities & Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, for obtaining the highest marks for the Capital Market related subjects in following the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance. Ms. Kirillawala Attanayake Mohottalalage Tharushi Navodya Attanayake was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Edinborough Products (Pvt) Ltd, for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Commerce ( Special) Degree; and the Gold Medal offered by the Linus Silva Scholarship fund, for obtaining the highest GPA of the in the Bachelor's Honours examinations of Department of Commerce and Financial Management. Mr. Mohamed Nazeer Mohamed Akbar Ali was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the EWIS Information System Limited, for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Commerce ( Special) Degree in Business Technology. Ms. Ashvini Warsha Ho was awarded the Gold Medal offered by LB Finance PLC, for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Financial Management. Mr. Pubbare Mudiyanselage Ravindu Madumal Thilakarathna was awarded the Gold Medal, offered by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy; the Gold Medal, offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant, for obtaining the highest marks in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy and participating in extracurricular activities; and the Gold Medal offered by Colombo Stock Exchange CSE, for obtaining the highest marks for the Capital Market related subjects in following Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy. Mr. Dissanayaka Mudiyanselage Shamitha Prabodha was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, for obtaining the highest marks for the Internship in Accountancy subject in following Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy. Ms. Ranaweera Kaluarachchige Kaveesha Kavindi Ranaweera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, for obtaining the highest marks in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Accountancy. Ms. Illeperumage Kavindi Hansani Perera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Acuity knowledge Partners (Pvt) Ltd., for obtaining the highest marks in Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Financial Engineering. Ms. Vivina Dilini Wijesinghe Abayakoon was awarded the Gold Medal offered by KPMG Sri Lanka for the most outstanding student in Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Financial Engineering. Ms. Thenuri Nipulya Gajaweera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Macksons Tiles Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. to the ‘Outstanding Student of the Year’ in following Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Human Resource. Ms. Rathnayaka Mudiyanselage Achini Nimesha Thilakarathne was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Chartered Institute of Personal Management of Sri Lanka, for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Human Resource.
During the 3rd session, 09 graduands of the Postgraduate Diploma in Kayacikista, 11 graduands of the Postgraduate Diploma in Pancakarma, 01 graduand of the Postgraduate Diploma in Shalyatantra, and 65 graduands of the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery Degree, offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, 96 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing, 29 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Banking, 30 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Insurance, and 28 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Auditing and Forensic Accounting, offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya, 65 graduands of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BFT) Honours Degree, 65 graduands of the Bachelor of Information and Communication and Technology (BICT) Honours Degree, and 37 graduands of the Bachelor of Science Honours in Computer Science Degree, offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya were conferred.
At this session, Ms. Thalarambe Bulathge Ayoma Lakmini of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute was awarded the Pandit G. P. Wickramarachchi Memorial Gold Medal, for excels in Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery Degree; Dr. D. M. Jayasinghe Memorial Gold Medal, for excels in all the Kaumarabhritya course units; the Venerable Dunukebedde Sri Gnanarathana Nayaka Thero Memorial Gold Medal, for excels in all the Sanskrit course units; Dr. P. D. P. Dharmavijaya Memorial Gold Medal, for excels in the course unit ‘Indigenous Practices of Medicine in Sri Lanka’; and Dr. Leelaratne Weerasinghe Memorial Gold Medal, for excels in all the core subjects, in following the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery Degree. The University of Kelaniya’s, Ms. Hitihamillage Subashini Samaradiwakara was awarded with the Gold Medal offered by Sri Lanka Telecom, for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing. Ms. Yogaraja Kuhanya Sivasangari was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC as the most outstanding student in Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing. Ms. Hetti Arachchige Cheshani Chiranga was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Ogilvy Digital (Pvt) Ltd., for obtaining the highest marks for Information Technology and Systems course units, in following the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Marketing. Mr. Idam Gedara Sachintha Praneeth Ariyadasa was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Institute of Bankers in Sri Lanka, for obtaining the highest marks in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Banking. Mr. Gammana Vidanelage Malin Vijayantha Perera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by Softlogic Life Insurance PLC, for obtaining the highest marks in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Insurance; and the Gold Medal offered by Janashakthi Insurance PLC as the most outstanding student in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Insurance. Ms. Jayasinghage Yuwanth Lasara was awarded the Gold Medal offered by IIASL as the best student in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Auditing and Forensic Accounting. Mr. Maddumage Vinu Vihan Perera was awarded the Venerable Lunupokune Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Thero Memorial Gold Medal, for obtaining the highest marks in the Bachelor’s Honours examinations of Faculty of the Computing and Technology; and the Gold Medal, offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology, for excels in following the Bachelor of Science Honours in Computer Science Degree. Mr. Liyanage Lakshaman Singhe Silva was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Bank of Ceylon as the most outstanding student of the Faculty of Computing and Technology. Mr. Baddegama Ayesh Ravindu Isuranga was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology, for excels in following the Bachelor of Engineering Technology ( BET) Honours Degree. Ms. Hansi Kaawya Radhakrishnan was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology, for excels in following the Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology ( BICT) Honours Degree.
