The cultural troupe of the Department of Fine Arts, University of Kelaniya, has been selected to participate in the 8th India International Folk Festival in India, scheduled to take place from the 24^th of November to the 2^nd of December 2024 at Purana Qila, Central Park, Kartavya Path, and Kamini Auditorium in New Delhi, India.

This prestigious event will showcase the rich cultural heritage of various countries and their traditions.

The University of Kelaniya proudly sponsored the participation of its students to represent our university with pride at the 8th India International Folk Festival. As part of this sponsorship, flight tickets for the nine participating final year students of the Dance Honours Degree Programme from the Department of Fine Arts were handed over by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the 22^nd of November 2024 at the Vice-chancellor’s office.

The event also witnessed the participation of the academic staff members, Mr. Ranganath de Silva and Ms. Anjalika Wijesinghe, and the non-academic staff member, Mr. Ishara Maduranga.
