The 8^th scholarship awarding ceremony, organized annually by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, was held under the precedence of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the 28^th of February 2025, at the university’s Senate Room.

During the event, scholarships were awarded to 51 financially challenged first-year undergraduates from the academic year 2022/2023, selected through an application process that ensured representation from all faculties. Each year, more than 150 students receive financial assistance through this initiative, with approximately four million rupees allocated for scholarship funds annually, supporting students until the completion of their studies.

The event was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Professor Dhammika Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities;  Mr. Raja Premadasa, Chairman of the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya, along with the executive members and the scholarship donors.
