Another Session of Senate Awards held on the 28th of January 2026

Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 28th of January 2026 at the Senate Room of the university.
Researchers whose papers were published in internationally recognized journals, were appreciated and the Senate Awards and Cash Prizes were awarded to the researchers by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Moreover, the deans of the faculties, heads of the departments, and members of the Senate graced the event.
Dr Manoj Jinadasa from the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Dr G. H. B. A. de Silva from the Department of Human Resource Management, and Dr Sugeeth S. J. Patabendige and Ms Shanika Iresha Wijenayake from the Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal and listed among the Top 10%.
Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Prof. Nayana Gunathilaka from the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine; and Prof. Sagarika Kannangara from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal.

Epa from the Department of Zoology and Environmental Management, and Dr Upeksha Perera from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science; Dr D. L. I. H. K. Peiris from the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education, Faculty of Social Sciences; and Dr Sugeeth S. J. Patabendige and Mr Dhuveeshan Muthusamy from the Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q2-ranked journal.
Senior Prof. Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali and Prof. A. L. A. K. Ranaweera from the Department of Physics and Elecronics, and Dr G. S. Wijesiri, Dr. K. K. K. R. Perera, Dr S. V. A. Almeida, and Mr Jayantha Munasinghe from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Sciences; Prof. A.W. K. Wasantha Subasinghe from the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences; and Prof. W. M. C. Bandara Wanninayake from the Department of Marketing Management, and Dr W. A. S. Weerakkody from the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, were recognized with Senate Honours and cash prizes for their research published in Scopus Q3- and Q4-ranked journals.
Prof. Isuru Udayangani Hewapathirana from the Software Engineering Teaching Unit, Faculty of Science received Senate Honours for Scopus-Indexed Conference Full Papers.
Prof. D. M. R. Dissanayake from the Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies received Senate Honours for Indexed Book Chapters.
