Another Session of Senate Awards Held on the 26th of February 2026

Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 26th of February 2026 at the Senate Room of the university.
Researchers whose papers were published in internationally recognized journals, were appreciated and the Senate Awards and Cash Prizes were awarded to the researchers by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Moreover, the deans of the faculties, heads of the departments, and members of the Senate graced the event.
Prof. Dinushani Anupama Daranagama from the Department of Plant and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science; Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi and Ms W. M. H. K. Bandara from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; and Mr K. D. Anushka Dulanjana Chandrasena from the Department of Applied Computing, Faculty of Computing and Technology, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal and listed among the Top 10%.
Prof. K. G. H. D. Weerasinghe from the Department of Computer System Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Technology, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q1-ranked journal.
Senior Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage and Prof. P. A. S. R. Wickramarachchi from the Department of Chemistry, and Prof. I. V. N. Rathnayake from the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, received Senate Honours and Cash Prizes for having their research published in a Scopus Q2-ranked journal.
Prof. Niranga Manjuri Devanarayana from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, and Dr H. M. T. S. Herath from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management and Mr H. M. M. N. Herath from the Department of Finance, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, were recognized with Senate Honours and cash prizes for their research published in Scopus Q3- and Q4-ranked journals.
