Awareness Programme on Gender for Security Officers of the University of Kelaniya by The Centre for Gender Studies

The Centre for Gender Studies of University of Kelaniya conducted a session of awareness on gender and gender mainstreaming with particular focus on the security officers and troops of University of Kelaniya on 11th of February 2022 at the university premises.

The session was graced by Dr. Anusha Edirisinghe, director of the Centre for Gender Studies.

The guest speaker for the day was Ms. Samitha Sugathimala, director of the Foundation for Innovative Social Development (FISD). During the speech, the concept of gender was defined to the officers while the role played by the Centre for Gender Studies of the University of Kelaniya (CGSUOK) and the impact of gender mainstreaming was addressed by the director of the Centre for Gender Studies, Dr. Anusha Edirisinghe.

The purpose of the session was to improve the gender literacy of the security officers of the university who has a direct bearing on the undergraduates and similar associates. The event adjourned successfully with the participation of 21 officers stationed in-campus.
