The Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya won the championship, first and second runner-up places in the 21st “Chinese Bridge” competition in Sri Lanka Round

The Award Ceremony of the 21st "Chinese Bridge": Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign University Students, Sri Lanka Round was held grandly at the University of Colombo on the 20th of June 2022.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya won the overall championship, winning first, second and third places in three individual competitions and two championships in other categories.

The competition was organized successfully by Dr. Wu Hongyuan and Dr. Jani Samarakoon, the Co-Directors of Confucius Institute. Dr. Wu Hongyuan, Assoc. Prof. Tang Ying, Assoc. Prof. Sun Cuibi, and Volunteer teachers He Yanling and Sun Ying instructed the students to prepare the contents of the competition. Dilan Gamage, the champion of the "Chinese Bridge" competition in 2020, and other lecturers at the Confucius Institute at the University of Kelaniya also made suggestions to improve the performance of the contestants.

W. H. Chalindi Jayawickrama, H. H. T. Nirmitha Hewawasan, and L. N. Ge Dileesha Thisarangi excelled among the 31 contestants and won first, second and third places respectively. The champion W. H. Chalindi Jayawickrama will be representing Sri Lanka in the final round of the 21st Chinese Bridge Competition.
