A training workshop and a brainstorming session for new directors and new members of the Research Council staff were held on the 12^th of June 2023, at the Staff Development Centre Auditorium.

The workshop was conducted by the Research Council of the University of Kelaniya.

Professor N. A. K. P. J. Seneviratne, the Chairman of the Research Council and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, trained them on policymaking, award mechanisms, research management, and publication guidelines.

The second session of the training focused on planning and prioritizing the research and publication portfolio under difficult situations. The discussion proposed changes to grant schemes, awarding schemes, and research and publication recognition mechanisms at the faculty and institution levels to improve the world university rankings of the University of Kelaniya.

New directors and new staff members of the Research Council took part in the training.
