The official launching of the book entitled “Rāva Pratibhā 2023”, organized by the Art Council of the University of Kelaniya, was held in view of the National Literacy Month, on the 12^th of September 2024, from 02.30 p.m. onwards, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Kelaniya. The event was headed by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

This initiative aimed at recognizing the artistic talents of the undergraduates, encouraging them and socializing their art works.

“Rāva Pratibhā 2023” can be called an anthology dedicated to the literary creativity of university students. This anthology includes a total number of 86 art works of various types, selected by the Art Council, and consists of 236 pages. It is a specialty that undergraduates from all the six faculties of the university have been represented in this work.

During the event, the Guest Lecture was delivered by Professor Emeritus Sunanda Mahendra, under the title of “Creativity and Human Philosophy”. In conclusion, the undergraduates whose art works were presented in “Rāva Pratibhā 2023” were awarded certificates along with a book while the members of the Organizing Committee and the undergraduates who presented items were awarded certificates.

Present at the occasion were Prof. M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor Uda Hettige, Chairman of the Art Council; Professor Anuruddhi Edirisinghe of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Manjula Gunaratne, Director of the ICCMS; Heads of the departments; and the undergraduates who presented art works.
