A delegation from Hengxing University, Qingdao, China visited the University of Kelaniya on the 24^th of February 2025 for a discussion on future cooperation under the auspices of Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the Faculty of Humanities Boardroom 2.

Ms. Zhao Jingjing, Vice President and Ms. Zhang Jiangyun, Director of International Affairs representing  Hengxing University and University of Kelaniya Alumnus Dr. K. Wimalarathne, Economic Advisor, Zhucheng Municipal Government, Shandong Province comprised the visiting delegation.

Discussions were held on possible areas of cooperation, and it was decided to initiate a student exchange programme at first.  Participating at the meeting were Venerable Professor Malwane Chandaratana Thero from the Department of Sinhala who has vast experience in teaching Sinhala to Chinese students and facilitating a large number of students from China to study at the University of Kelaniya through the Certificate Course in Sinhala for Foreign Students as well as the Master of Arts programme in Sinhala; Senior Professor Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, Centre for International Affairs; and Ms. Rasangi Gamage, Coordinator, International Cooperation.
