Delegation visit from Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati, India

A delegation from Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati, India, comprising Professor P. Vijaya Lakshmi, Dean of the Centre for International Relations; Professor N. Rajani, Registrar; and Professor R. Usha, Associate Dean of the Centre for International Relations, visited the University of Kelaniya on the 7th of March 2025 for discussions on avenues for future cooperation.  

The meeting, held at the Centre for International Affairs, focused on the topics of dual degree programme, student mobility programme, joint research initiatives, international conferences/workshops/seminars, knowledge-sharing and cultural exchange programs, and fostering academic excellence, research advancements, and cross-cultural learning.

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) is the second Women’s Public University in India, which was established in 1983 and offers around 50 programmes in different disciplines. The programmes are offered through 5 schools i.e., School of Sciences, School of Social Sciences, School of Engineering & Technology, Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, and School of Nursing. The university has five incubation centres, which were established with Federal Government funds. As a premier women’s university in India, SPMVV is committed to advancing higher education, research, and innovation across various disciplines. Collaboration opportunities regarding virtual mobility, student exchange and internship opportunities, as well as designing a Diploma course in English and German to be conducted online.

The event was held with the participation of Senior Professor Neelakshi C. Premawardhena, Director, International Affairs; Dr. Samanthi Jayawardena, Deputy Director, International Affairs; and Ms. Rasangi Gamage, Coordinator, International Cooperation.
