The Closing Ceremony of Career Fair 2025, organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU), University of Kelaniya, took place on the 12th of March 2025 at the K14 Hall of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya. The event was entirely coordinated by student clubs affiliated with the CGU, including Rotaract, LEO, LED, Gavel, and AIESEC. Held annually, the Career Fair serves as a vital platform for undergraduates to explore career opportunities and connect with potential employers in the corporate world.
Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Rolf Blaser, Managing Director and CEO of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd, delivered the keynote speech.
Career Fair 2025 featured a series of Open Days, workshops, and a main event spanning from January to March. Eight Open Days were hosted by leading companies, including MAS Holdings, Unilever, Abans PLC, Brandix, North Sails, A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd, Sunshine Holdings, and John Keells, offering invaluable career guidance to students. The main event, held on the 5th of March at the Faculty of Computing and Technology, saw participation from eleven renowned companies, including Orient Finance PLC, Acorn Ventures (Pvt.) Ltd, Gateway College, Sisili Projects Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd, WIA Systems LK, Ceylinco Life Insurance Ltd, CodeGen International (Pvt.) Ltd, Baker Tilly Edirisinghe & Co, B. R. De Silva & Co, Prime Lands (Pvt.) Ltd, and George Steuart Consumer (Pvt.) Ltd.
The event was also attended by Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, Director of the Career Guidance Unit, along with Faculty Deans, academic staff, Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors, company representatives, and undergraduates.
As the curtains close on Career Fair 2025, the event stands as a remarkable milestone in the University of Kelaniya’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Through these initiatives, the University continues to empower undergraduates, equipping them with the confidence and expertise needed to step into the professional world.
