Inauguration of the Staff Development Programme for Probationary Lecturers – Cycle 28

The Staff Development Programme for Probationary Lecturers (Cycle 28), organized by the  Staff Development Centre (SDC), University of Kelaniya, commenced on 30 January 2026 at the SDC Auditorium.

This cycle includes participants from different universities and other recognized education institutes other than the applicants of the University of Kelaniya namely University of Moratuwa, Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, National School of Business Management (NSBM), Bhikshu University of Sri Lanka, Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, Saegis Campus, Nagananda International Institute for Buddhist Studies, National Institute of Social Development, BMS Campus, Ocean University of Sri Lanka, Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences, and Kaatsu International University (KIU Sri Lanka). This wide representation is expected to greatly enrich the collaborative and active learning experience of the programme.

The inauguration of the program was graced by the esteemed presence of Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, as the Chief Guest. Mr K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University, Ms E.W. Iresha Wadugedara, Snr Assistant Registrar, Academic Establishment Division and all the coordinators of staff development units of the faculties made their valuable presence on this occasion. The Director of the SDC, Prof. Ravi Dissanayake, initiated the event, followed by formal procedures to successfully conduct the inauguration and the regular sessions with the support of staff members of the SDC.

The program offered by the Staff Development Centre of the University of Kelaniya was the first such program that obtained ISO 9001-2015 Standard Certification in Sri Lanka. It is recognized as the most sought-after staff development program in Sri Lanka, as it is committed to quality deliveries and professional service to stakeholders.
