Mr Arthur Rapp, Director and Ms Nishka Thukral, Executive Assistant from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Regional Office, New Delhi, India and Ms Nimaya Manudewa, Regional Officer from the Information Centre in Colombo, visited the University of Kelaniya, on 25 May 2026. The university library organized a tour for them. Prof. Ishanka Karunarathne, former DAAD Research Ambassador, and alumni also joined them.

The delegates met Dr Udara de Silva, Head, Department of Modern Languages; Dr Sarasi Kannangara and Ms Madhupali Coorey, Senior Lecturers in German; and lecturers in German, and discussed possible measures to support and promote German language studies. Later, they conducted an information session on higher education opportunities in Germany to students in the BA Hons in German program at the K 14 Auditorium.

The visit was coordinated jointly by the German language studies, Department of Modern Languages and Centre for International Affairs. Dr Samanthi Jayawardena, Director and Ms Rasangi Gamage were also present at the discussion.
