The first meeting of the research team of the research study on ‘ragging and violence within the university’ was held on the 29^th of August 2018 at the Senate Room of the University. Research objectives, research methodology and anticipated sponsorship and responsibilities from the team members were specially discussed at the meeting which was held with the objective of gathering the ideas of the research team of the University of Kelaniya on the relevant research.

 The event was held with the patronage of Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of the University and Senior Lecturer Dr. Shamila Kumar, Chief Coordinator of the research from the University of Peradeniya also graced the event. Moreover, Senior Lecturer Dr. Namali Suraweera Coordinator of the research from the University of Kelaniya, Senior Lecturer Dr. Anusha Edirisinghe and Senior Lecturer Dr. Kaushalya Yatigammana, Assistant Coordinators of the research, academic staff members representing the research team and management assistants participated in the event.
