Prof. D. K. Y. Abeywardhana assumed duties as the Head of Department of Accountancy on 16^th of August 2021.

Prof. D. K. Y. Abeywardhana has completed Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree in Accountancy from University of Jayawardenepura. She was awarded Master of Science in Management from University of Jayawardenepura. Further, she earned a doctoral degree from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Prof. D. K. Y. Abeywardhana’s academic career started from the Department of Commerce, University of Jayawardenepura as an Assistant Lecturer. Then, she became an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya. Later, she became a Lecturer (Probationary) in the same department. She served as a Research Assistant and an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Birmingham. She worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya before being a professor
