The Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS) of the University of Kelaniya signed an MOU with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Sri Lanka on the 16th of February 2023 at the University Premises.

The MOU aims to promote the mutual understanding between CIPM and FCMS, pursue common interests, and promote & develop the principles, techniques & practices of Human Resource Management to optimize human resource utilization at the national and international levels. 

Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka (CIPM) is a professional body engaged in the field of education and offers various study programs to develop and promote the profession of personnel management. The Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS) is serving the country by providing a proper space for undergraduates and professionals to develop their talents individually and as a team, therefore this combination will light up the education sector in Sri Lanka.

Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, and Mr. U. A. C. Obayasekere, Chief Executive Officer of CIPM signed the MoU on behalf of the respective organizations and the event was graced by the presence of Dr. Narada Fernando, Dean - Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka the Registrar – University of Kelaniya, Heads of other departments in the Faculty, Dr. M. M. M. Shamil - Former Head of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management and the coordinator of the MOU, Ms. Gimanthi Malalage, Mr. G. Weerathunge, Director of professional and academic affairs and other representatives of CIPM including, Mr. Anushka Earskin, Head of Business School and Ms.Wathsala Madushani, Head of Finance,  Mr. Krishanth Thiruchelvam and a few academic staff members of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies.
