The Higher Diploma in Business program offered by the Department of Commerce and Financial Management is uniquely designed to facilitate the career progression of students who are not eligible for the state university system.

The inauguration ceremony of the Higher Diploma 2023-24 intake was held on the 22^nd of October 2023 at the University of Kelaniya. Over 100 students were inaugurated at the ceremony.  

Professor W.M.C.B. Wanninayake, the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies graced the event as the chief guest. The keynote speech was delivered by Mr. Sanjeewa Jayamaha, General Manager, SME Business, Sri Lanka Telecom. The Head of the Department, Dr. M.M.M. Shamil and academic staff of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management also joined the event sharing their well wishes for the program.
