To strengthen financial literacy in the country, the Finance Students’ Association of the University of Kelaniya initiated the “Investment Week 2023,” now in its 10^th year, to bridge the knowledge gap and to promote financial awareness. The event was held on the 24^th and 25^th of October 2023 at Sri Dharmaloka Hall, University of Kelaniya.

Investment Week 2023 was geared up to be an enlightening and action-packed event, spanning two exciting days that catered to a wide spectrum of interests in the field of finance. On the inaugural day, the “Investment Trade Show 2023” which consists of Banks, Insurance Firms, Asset Management Firms, Stock Broker firms, Unit Trusts, and, opened its doors to the public, offering an array of financial literacy-related activities and insights.

The second day of Investment Week promised to be the peak of intellectual exchange and industrial involvement. It kicked off with the launch and review of the "Finance Outlook Magazine”, followed by the “Grand Finale of the Inter-University Quiz Competition” in collaboration with Acuity Knowledge Partners. Then the event transitioned into the "Banking Summit," a gathering of industry leaders and experts who deliberated on the future of the banking industry. The Banking Summit was organized in collaboration with the Institute of the Bankers of Sri Lanka and the Association of Professional Bankers, Sri Lanka, and the panelists were Mr.Deepal Akuretiyagama, COO, NDB, Mr.Omar Sahib, Founder & CEO WEBEXPAY and Mr.Indika Fernando, AGM, IT Cargills Bank. Banking experts from the industry were also engaged as special invitees to the Banking Summit.

Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, was the chief guest for the “Investment Trade Show” and the “Banking Summit”. Professor W. M. C. B. Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya was the chief guest of the launch and review of the "Finance Outlook Magazine” and the “Grand Finale of the Inter-University Quiz Competition”. Dr.Anil Munasinghe, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Kelani Cable PLC, was the reviewer of the “Finance Outlook Magazine” and Mr.C.P.A. Karunathilake, Director General of the Institute of the Bankers of Sri Lanka, was the Guest of Honor in the Banking Summit. The event was graced by the Academic Staff, Non-academic Staff, Students of the University, and the Public.
