The 14th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI) organized by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya was held on the 9th and 10th of November 2023 at the Pegasus Reef Hotel, Wattala.
ICBI 2023 comprised five main segments. The 2nd SDG Youth Summit and the Doctoral Colloquium were successfully conducted on 9th November 2023, while the ICBI main conference, Technical Forum, and the 3MT competition took place on 10th November 2023.
The theme of this year’s Conference was “Advancing Digital Transformation, Well-being, and Sustainability in Business”. The esteemed Chief Guest for both the ICBI 2023 and SDG Youth Summit was Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Professor W. M. C. B. Wanninayake, the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, served as the Guest of Honour for both events. The Keynote speech of the SDG Youth Summit 2023 was delivered by Dr. Rohan Fernando, Executive Director – Plantation and Development of the Group Covering Sustainability and Branding, Aitken Spence PLC. Further, Prof Arosha Adikaram presented the keynote speech for the Doctoral Colloquium which was held as the evening session on 1st day of the conference.
A number of local and international researchers presented their research at the main conference. The keynote speech of the main conference was delivered by Professor Ying Zhou, University of Surrey, UK. Dr. Dhushy Thillaivasan – Founder/CEO, DH3 Solutions Pvt Ltd, and Silverleap Technology Pvt Ltd, Mr. Indika De Zoysa – Strategic Adviser / Vice President, Huawei Technologies Lanka Co (Pvt) Ltd, Vice Chairman, ICT skills council of Sri Lanka and Mr. Azim Pawanchik – Innovation Strategist, Alpha Catalyst Consulting (Malaysia) & Future Agenda (UK) participated as panelists of the Technical Forum, and the session was moderated by Professor Nalaka Wickramasinghe. Moreover, the 3MT competition proved to be fiercely competitive and added a significant vibrancy to the overall ICBI 2023.
