Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya Unveiled the “Achiever Accountant Journal”: A Treasure Trove of Accounting Knowledge has been Launched.

The Accountancy Students’ Association, University of Kelaniya (ASAK), one of the pioneering students’ associations of the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya has launched the 12th Volume of the “Achiever Accountant Journal”: a compendium of knowledge that delivers cutting-edge insights into the field of accounting on 20th March 2024, at BMICH.

The “Achiever Accountant Journal’ 24” stands as an annual publication of ASAK. This journal delves into emerging trends within accounting, business management, taxation, auditing and governance, leadership, and information technology.

The launching ceremony of the 12th Volume of the “Achiever Accountant Journal” marked one of the flagship events of the Department of Accountancy, showcasing its commitment to enriching the existing body of accounting knowledge by bringing together a distinguished assembly of speakers and industry experts creating a knowledge sharing platform in the accounting arena. Among the notable speakers scheduled to grace the occasion, Mr. Supun Weerasinghe, Director/Group Chief Executive Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC took the stage as the keynote speaker sharing insights and perspectives on “Charting the Future of Accounting Professionals: Harnessing the Power of Technology”. ASAK, being one of the trailblazing student associations of the Department of Accountancy, has upheld a tradition of excellence in providing a platform for aspiring accountants to explore new knowledge. Thus, being a testament to this commitment, the “Achiever Accountant Journal’ 24” offers a comprehensive exploration of contemporary topics relevant to the field of accounting. This year, as a value addition, the launching ceremony incorporated a Technical Forum that revolved around the theme of “Beyond Numbers: Navigating the Evolution of Accounting” offering a platform for insightful discussions among industry luminaries on contemporary issues and advancements in accounting, as articulated in the journal by esteemed industry partners and academics. The esteemed panelists of the technical forum were Mr. Mahendra Jayasekara - Managing Director - Lanka Walltiles PLC, Mr. Thivanka Jayasinghe - Head of Audit & Assurance - Deloitte Sri Lanka and Maldives, Ms. Dhashma Karunaratne - Chief Operating Officer - Aitken Spence Freight Sector, Mr. Samira Anthony- CFO - Phoenix Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, Ms. Hazel Pereira - Director – Group Finance/Group Treasurer - Hemas Holdings PLC. Their collective expertise promised to enrich the discourse surrounding the latest trends and developments in the dynamic accounting world.

Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya was the Chief Guest of the event. The event was graced by Professor W. M. C. B. Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Professor D. K. Y. Abeywardhana, Head, Department of Accountancy, Professor K. K. Tilakasiri, Senior Student Counsellor of the Faculty, Senior Professors, Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, all industry partners, and enthusiastic undergraduates spanning all four years of the Department of Accountancy.
