The inauguration of the 10^th batch of the Higher Diploma in Business Accounting (HDBA) program was held by the Department of Accountancy (DoA), University of Kelaniya, on September 29, 2024, at the Sunil Shantha Memorial Auditorium, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya.

The Higher Diploma in Business Accounting program addresses the needs of students who have not yet pursued higher education in accounting, providing them with essential industry skills and knowledge required to advance in their careers and progress them towards pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees.

Prof. Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, presided over the inauguration as the Chief Guest. Mr. Nuwan Fernando, Vice President of the IIA Sri Lanka Chapter and General Manager for Group Governance, Risk & Control at CBL Group, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, Mr. Fernando emphasized the evolving landscape of accounting careers and the vast opportunities that await students who complete the HDBA program.

Distinguished guests included Prof. Amila Munasinghe, Head of the Department of Accountancy, along with professors and academic staff of the DoA; Ms. Kaushalya Silva, Coordinator of the HDBA program; and students of the 10^th batch of HDBA.
