A Memorandom of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Kelaniya and the Union Assurance PLC on the 01^st of October 2024 at the Vice-chancellor’s Office.

Ms. Nisansala Paranayapa, Chief People Officer, Union Assurance PLC, signed the MoU representing the Union Assurance PLC, while Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, signed on behalf of the university.

The MoU was signed to provide Management Trainee opportunities and Internship opportunities for the students in the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Insurance Degree programme of the Department of Finance.

Present at the occasion were Prof. Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Dr. J. M. R. Fernando, Head of the Department of Finance; Prof. S. S. Weligamage; Mr. Ruwan Buddhika, Coordinator of the Insurance Programme and other academic staff members of the Department of Finance. Mr. Dahami Pathirana, Head of Talent and Organization Development, Union Assurance PLC; Ms. Deshani Rodrigo, Assistant Manager of Talent Engagement, Union Assurance PLC; Ms. Midushiga Sivalingam, Assistant Manager of Talent Acquisition; and Ms. Uththara Kapugamage, HR Business Partner, Union Assurance PLC graced the event on behalf of the Union Assurance PLC.
