Dr. Saroja Wanigasekara assumes duties as the New Head of the Department of Human Resource Management

Dr. Saroja Wanigasekra assumed duties as the new Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. The appointment letter was handed over to the Head by Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, on the 05th of August 2024, in the Senate Room.

Dr. Wanigasekara counts over two decades of experience in academia, both as a lecturer and as an administrator. She was the Chair of the 14th International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI) 2023, organized by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies. In addition, she was the department coordinator of the faculty Quality Assurance Cell and a committee member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) team. She currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Kelaniya Journal of Human Resource Management (KJHRM), published by the Department of Human Resource Management.

Dr. Wanigasekara holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, an MPhil degree from the University of Peradeniya, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) Degree specializing in Management from the University of Peradeniya. She is an Associate Teaching Fellow of Higher Education (HE), UK.

Dr. Wanigasekara is known for her capacity in research in the areas of employee networking, employee well-being, and promoting diversity, equity, and workplace inclusion. She has extensively contributed to developing the Curriculum Development Policy of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, and contributed to curriculum development and verification, both within the university and outside, including CIPM, Sri Lanka.

The event was attended by Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies and all the academic staff members of the department.
