The Senfin | UoK Stock Market Challenge 2024, organized by the Students' Association of Financial Management of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with Senfin Securities Limited and Senfin Asset Management as the main sponsors, was held on the 16^th of October 2024 at the Dharmaloka Hall, University of Kelaniya.

The event aimed to enhance financial literacy among students and promote the degree programs offered by the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, while bringing together over 190 advanced-level students from across Sri Lanka for a competitive quiz event centered on stock market knowledge.

The competition featured rounds of MCQs, short questions, and role-play sessions designed to test participants' understanding of financial markets and investment strategies. The event not only provided students with a platform to deepen their knowledge but also positioned them as future leaders in Sri Lanka's financial sector.

Dr. Ruvani Fernando, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other notable guests included Mr. Dasun Perera, CEO of Senfin Securities Limited, and Mr. Jeevan Sukumaran, CEO of Senfin Asset Management. The esteemed judging panel featured Dr. Madurika Nanayakkara from the University of Kelaniya, Dr. Tharindu Ediriwickrama from the University of Colombo, Mr. Nishantha Hewavithana from the Colombo Stock Exchange, Mr. R. M. Wijesinghe Banda from the Ministry of Finance, and Ms. Dinushi Ellepola, Deputy COO of Senfin Securities Limited.

After an intense day of competition, Sri Palee College Horana claimed the top spot, followed by Bandaranayake College Gampaha as the first runner-up and Royal College Panadura as the second runner-up. The event was supported by Senfin Securities Limited and Senfin Asset Management as premium partners, alongside CIMA and Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) as gold partners, and Colorcroma Pvt Ltd. as the silver partner. Through this initiative, students not only gained insights into the stock market but were also introduced to the academic offerings and career pathways available through the Department of Commerce and Financial Management.
