University of Kelaniya Signs an MoU with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants

The Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka on 15th August 2025 at the Senate Room of the University of Kelaniya.
The MoU aims to promote mutual understanding between the two institutions and provide greater academic and professional support to undergraduates of the Department. This collaboration is expected to enhance students’ exposure to professional practices, develop employability skills, and strengthen industry–academic links.
The ceremony was graced by Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Professor W. M. C. B. Wanninayake, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; and Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi, Head, Department of Commerce & Financial Management. Representing the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka were Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala, President, CMA Sri Lanka, and Mr. Kosala Dissanayaka, Senior Consultant, CMA Sri Lanka.
The event was also attended by Mr. Asanga Wimalaratne, Council Member of CMA; Ms. Madumi Perera, Senior Director Examination, CMA; and all the professors, doctors and lecturers of the Department of Commerce & Financial Management. The partnership is expected to open new opportunities for undergraduate training, professional development programs, and collaborative initiatives that will benefit both students and the academic community.
