Department of Finance, University of Kelaniya Rings the Market Opening Bell at CSE to Mark Its 15 Years of Excellence

The Department of Finance of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya commemorated its 15th anniversary by ringing the Market Opening Bell at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) on 24th June 2026, marking its years of contribution to fostering successive generations of Sri Lankan financial specialists, investment professional and corporates.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives from both the University of Kelaniya and the Colombo Stock Exchange. The podium participants were Mr Rajeeva Bandaranaike, Chief Executive Officer, Colombo Stock Exchange; Dr S. C. Thushara, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya; Dr Ruwan Wijesinghe, Head, Department of Finance; Senior Prof. Susima Weligamage; Prof. Narada Fernando, Chairman of the People’s Bank; Prof. Ruwan Abeysekara; and Prof. Ruwani Fernando.
The Market Opening Bell Ceremony served as a fitting tribute to the Department’s achievements over the past 15 years, while celebrating the dedication and contributions of its academic staff, students, alumni, and industry partners. As the Department of Finance embarks on its next chapter, it remains committed to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and producing future-ready graduates capable of addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities of the global financial landscape.
