University of Kelaniya Partners with Austral Group of Australia to Launch Advanced Certificate in Australian Taxation

The Department of Finance of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS), University of Kelaniya, proudly marked a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Austral Group of Australia on 10 July 2026 at the Senate Room of the University.
The MoU establishes a long-term collaborative partnership to offer the Advanced Certificate in Australian Taxation (ACAT) through the Centre for Financial Literacy of the FCMS. The programme is designed to equip students with practical knowledge and internationally recognized expertise in Australian taxation, preparing them for career opportunities in a global professional environment.
This collaborative approach combines academic excellence with industry expertise, ensuring students receive a comprehensive and career-focused learning experience. This initiative creates a direct pathway from education to international employment, offering graduates valuable global exposure and professional experience.
The signing ceremony was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Dr S. C. Thushara, Dean of the FCMS; Ms M. M. N. T. K. Yalagama, Acting Registrar of the University of Kelaniya; and Dr Ruwan Wijesinghe, Head of the Department of Finance, together with the academic staff of the Department of Finance. Representing Austral Accountants were Dr Vajira Jayasooriya, Director; Ms Prasadi Fernando, Practice Manager; and other representatives of the Austral Group.
