The Inauguration Ceremony of the Orientation Programme 2024 - Faculty of Computing and Technology

The inauguration ceremony of the orientation program of the Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya, was held on the 11th of September 2024 from 09.00 a.m. onwards at the faculty Auditorium. The event marked the official welcome for the new undergraduates of the 2022/2023 intake.
A total of 256 students have been admitted to pursue three undergraduate degree programs: Bachelor of Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology, and Bachelor of Science Honours in Computer Science offered by the Faculty of Computing and Technology.
The ceremony was honoured by the participation of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also honoured by the presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, Dean, Faculty of Computing and Technology; Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University; Dr. Kasun Fernando, Director of Student Affairs; and Mrs. Shyamika Hapuhinna, Deputy Registrar of the Academic Division. Each addressed the incoming students, offering guidance and encouragement as they embarked on their academic journey.
Additionally, the event was attended by the Heads of Departments and Units within the Faculty of Computing and Technology, Dr. Chanaka Udayanga, Senior Student Counsellor; Mr. N. N. Kandewatta, Assistant Registrar; Academic Advisors; and both academic and non-academic staff of the faculty.
At the conclusion of the event, a special session was held with the students' parents and the responsible administrative personnel from the university. The session featured addresses from Dr. Chamli Pushpakumara, Dean of the faculty; Senior Professor N. G. J. Dias; Professor Dhammika Weerasinghe; Dr. K. R. N. Harshani, Director of Kalana Mithuru Sevana; Rev. Bopeththe Somananda Thero; Dr. Kasun Fernando, Director of Student Affairs; and Dr. Chanaka Udayanga, Senior Student Counsellor of the Faculty of Computing and Technology. Each speaker provided valuable insights and information on various aspects of the students' academic journey.
