A scholarship awarding ceremony organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya was held on 9^th October 2023 at the Sri Dharmaloka Hall (DH) of the University.

The event was held with the objective of awarding scholarships to undergraduates of the Department. This year, the scholarship was awarded for the fifth time and 352 students were eligible for the scholarship with each receiving a scholarship amount worth LKR 24,000. 

The scholarship was offered under the Students Welfare Program and sponsored by the Glorious Sun Charity Foundation, Hong Kong under the pious patronage of Professor Emeritus Ven. Kuala Lumpur Dhammajoti Thero.

The event was graced by Dr. Sudath Senarath, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Senior Professor Ven. Makuruppe Dhammananda Thero, the Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Academic Staff, and the students of the Department.
