A scholarship awarding ceremony organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya was held on 13th December 2023 at the Sri Dharmaloka Hall (DH) of the University.

This year the scholarship was offered under the 6th Step of the Students Welfare Program sponsored by the Glorious Sun Charity Foundation, Hong Kong. 352 students received the scholarship with each receiving a scholarship amount worth LKR 24,000. 

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Rajitha Pushpa Kumara. Professor Emeritus Most Venerable Kuala Lumpur Dhammajoti Thero, Director of Glorious Sun Charity Foundation, and other delegates from Hong Kong participated as special guests.

Mr. K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, the Registrar, Dr. Sudath Senarath, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Chair Professor Most Venerable Nabirittankadawara Gnanarathana Thero, Senior Professor, Most Venerable Makuruppe Dhammananda Thero, the Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, the Academic Staff of the Department, and Students graced the scholarship awarding ceremony.
