H. A. V. Eranga Lakmini Gunasinghe Wins First Place at the 35th Japanese Language Speech Contest organized by JLEA

H. A. V. Eranga Lakmini Gunasinghe, a third-year Japanese Honours student from the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, secured first place at the 35th Japanese Language Speech Contest, organized by the Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA). The competition was held on the 7th of September 2024, at the Sasakawa Centre in Sri Lanka.

Ms. Gunasinghe competed in Category C, designated for individuals who have visited Japan, and delivered a powerful speech titled “今を生きることに感謝しながら今という瞬間を大切に生きていきましょう” (Let’s live with gratitude for the present and cherish the moment we are living in). Her thoughtful and heartfelt presentation earned her first place in the competition.

Gunasinghe’s success highlights her dedication to mastering the Japanese language and her ability to convey deep cultural and personal insights. This achievement reflects her hard work and exceptional skills.
