A Russian Language Workshop, organized by the Russian Studies Unit of the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, in collaboration with the Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) of Russia and the Russian House, Colombo,

was held on the 7^th of November 2024 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya. A delegation from the MSLU was welcomed by the University of Kelaniya on the same day to conduct the workshop.

The workshop aimed at improving both Russian linguistic knowledge and communicative abilities of the students.

The workshop was led by Ms. Ilona Vladimirovna Valiyeva from Moscow State Linguistic University and Ms. Alexandra Alexeyevna Shamrai from Saratov State University, who also graced the event as the Chief Guests. The lecturers provided insights into the Russian language and culture, creating a dynamic and engaging learning experience. Students enjoyed a unique opportunity to converse with native Russian speakers and participate in interactive language activities, immersing themselves fully in the learning process.

The workshop was attended by 30 students, while the event also witnessed the participation of the academic staff of the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya.
