Indian Food Corner Held at the University of Kelaniya

Level II undergraduates following the BA Honors in Hindi Degree and the Department of Hindi Studies organized an Indian Food Corner, celebrating Holi, the Spring Festival. The event was held on the 19th of March 2025 at the Polwaththa Ground, University of Kelaniya.
The objective of this event was to enhance the cultural awareness, connectivity, teamwork, and event management skills of the undergraduates of the department.
Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities participated as the Chief Guest. Later, Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, graced the event and encouraged the students. Moreover, Prof. Swarna Ihalagama, Head of the Department of Sinhala; Prof. Susima Weligamage from the Department of Finance; Dr. K. R. N. Harshani from the Department of Library and Information Science; and Lecturer Hashan Wimalasiri from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management were also among the guests.
Food items like Pani Poori, Laddu, Onion Pakoda, Bread Pakoda, Popcorn, and beverages like Masala Chai (Tea) were available at the Food Corner.
Furthermore, the event witnessed the presence of Dr. Neetha Senevirathna, Head of the Department of Hindi Studies, along with Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Prof. Anusha Salwathura, other members of the academic and non-academic staff of the department and students.
