The Samprasādana Awarding Ceremony, organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Kelaniya, was held on March 20, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The event was presided over by Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and Dr. Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities.

This initiative was organized to honor Retired Professor Jinadasa Danansooriya, former Head of the Department of Sinhala, University of Kelaniya, who was recently conferred the prestigious Sāhitya Ratna Award at the State Literary Awards 2024.

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the “Samprasādana” plaque to Professor Danansooriya by the Deans of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences. Senior Professor Nimal Mallawa Arachchi, Chair of the Department of Sinhala, delivered a speech reflecting on Professor Danansooriya’s significant contributions to the field. Professor Danansooriya also addressed the gathering with an insightful speech.

The event was attended by Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Heads of the departments of the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences; academic and non-academic staff members; and students.
