The inaugural ceremony of the Diploma in Yoga Philosophy, organized by the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies, University of Kelaniya, was successfully held on August 2, 2025. The event unfolded in the vibrant setting of the Social Sciences Auditorium, which was filled with eager participants and attendees.
Distinguished as the Chief Guest, Swami Gunathithananda Swami, the Chief Advisor of Chinmaya Mission, graced the occasion with his esteemed presence, bringing a sense of tradition and spirituality to the proceedings. The highlight of the evening was a thought-provoking keynote address delivered by Mr. Tharindu Dhananjaya Weerasinghe, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management. His insights captivated the audience, bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary application.
Under the visionary leadership of Senior Lecturer Udawela Revatha Thero, the newly appointed Head of the Department, the event culminated in a celebration of knowledge and cultural heritage. The gathering was further enhanced by the presence of notable figures, including Professor K. B. Jayawardena, the Course Coordinator; Senior Lecturer Walapane Gnanasena Thero; and Senior Lecturer Devagoda Piyarathana Thero, along with the dedicated members of the department.
