A special guest lecture on “Women Artists of Pakistan: Forms, Genres, and Aesthetic Practices,” organised by the Department of Fine Arts, University of Kelaniya, was held on September 2, 2025, at the Department of Fine Arts.
The main objective of this lecture was to create a discussion on the aesthetic practices of the contemporary art of Pakistan, focusing on the contribution of female artists.
The lecture was conducted by Prof. Naela Aamir, University of Punjab, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Professor Naela Aamir is a renowned art historian, painter, and educator with a career experience of nearly 30 years in the Department of Fine Arts at Punjab University, teaching graduate, postgraduate, and research students. She is a skilled plein-air landscape painter, excelling in pastel and oil paintings.
The lecture was attended by visual arts and design students and academic staff of the Department of Fine Arts.
