A workshop on Turismo Idiomático was conducted for students studying Spanish at the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, on 17th December 2025, in collaboration with the Tourism Office of Spain in India, which operates under the Embassy of Spain in India.

The event aimed to promote Spain as a destination for learning Spanish through cultural immersion.

The session was conducted by Mr Omkar Lohar, a representative of the Tourism Office of Spain in India. Through a short and interactive presentation, students were informed about Spanish immersion courses in Spain and how language learning can be effectively combined with cultural exposure.

To enhance student engagement, a quiz activity was also organized, during which winners were awarded Spanish products such as olive oil.

The event was attended by the academic staff members and the students of the Department of Modern Languages.

The event concluded with a networking lunch featuring a variety of Spanish dishes such as tapas, croquettes and crema catalana which was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants.
