Nine students from the Japanese Unit of the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya received prestigious scholarships to pursue their studies in Japan for one year. These scholarships provide students with valuable opportunities to improve their Japanese language proficiency, experience Japanese culture, and broaden their academic knowledge.

Accordingly, R. A. Yenuli Methsadi Rupasingha, K. U. G. Kaveesha Mihisarani, R. M. V. Sathsarani Rathnayaka, W. M. Nethmi Nawodha, and K. W. Oshadi Gayathri Wickramaarachchi received the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship, while H. A. Sandunika Ruwanthi Hemasinghe and R. P. Naduni Thathsara Ramanayaka received the Soka University Scholarship. R. M. Poorna Wishwanath Madawala and B. M. S. Sithumini Pabasara Basnayaka received the Shinshu University Scholarship.

This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the students, as well as the continuous guidance and support provided by the academic staff of the Japanese Unit. Studying in Japan will provide these students with valuable academic and cultural experiences while further strengthening the ties between Sri Lanka and Japan.
