Inauguration of the 10th Batch of the Diploma in Photography

The inauguration ceremony of the 10th batch of the Diploma in Photography organized by Drama & Theatre and Image Arts Unit of the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya was held on the 11th of November 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. This was organized with the objective of providing knowledge to probationers and veterans who have lost the opportunity to gain university education and socializing photography as a subject.
This inauguration was held for the 10th batch of the Diploma in Photography and the batch consists of more than 80 students.
The keynote speech of the event was delivered by Senior Counsellor and Psychologist, Dr. Chaminda Weerasiriwardhane and during his speech he emphasized on the nature of the human brain, function of the brain and the contribution of the human brain to develop photography skills.
The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities. Present at the occasion were Senior Lecturer Mr. Priyankara Rathnayake, Unit Head- Drama & Theatre and Image Arts Unit, Senior Lecturer Mr. Upul Jayantha Ranepura, Coordinator of the Diploma, Senior Lecturer Mr. Chandrasiri Bogamuwa including the academic staff members of the Unit, Veteran Photographer Mr. Berti Gunasekara and the diploma holders.
This programme had produced more than 600 diploma holders within the past 10 years and the speciality is that 30 photographers from the Department of Police had also followed the diploma.
