A discussion between the University of Kelaniya and the K.J. Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce, India was held on the 07th of November 2018 at the Office of the Vice- Chancellor. Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice- Chancellor of University of Kelaniya and Dr. Prasad Bhide, Assistant Professor- Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce led the discussion.

The idea of strengthening the relationship between the two universities was emphasized during the discussion.

In relation to the discussion, Dr. Prasad Bhide who visited the university as a senior scholar to the Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies was introduced to the Vice- Chancellor. The introduction was done by Senior Lecturer Ven. Walapane Gnanasena Thero, Head- Department of Sanskrit and Eastern Studies.

Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor and Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities were also present at the occasion.

Dr. Prasad Bhide was also the keynote speaker of the 03rd International Conference on Sanskrit and Eastern Studies which was held on the 08th of November 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
