Junior Academic Research Symposium of the Probationary Lecturers (Faculty of Humanities)

Junior Academic Research Symposium organized by the Staff Development Centre of the Faculty of Humanities was held on the 14th of November 2018 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Humanities. The prime objective of this symposium which was held for the first time was to develop research skills of the probationary lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities.

43 nationally important research papers out of 60 research studies conducted by the probationary lecturers of the Faculty of Humanities, were presented at the Symposium. A journal that includes all the research papers presented at the Symposium was also launched on the same day.

Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne, Deputy Vice- Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya presided over the event as the Chief Guest where the keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities. The Professor delivered his speech under the theme “Buddhist Philosophy and Psychology”.

Senior Lecturer Dr. Bandara Wanninayake, Director- Staff Development Centre, Senior Lecturer Dr. Kusum Herath, Coordinator of the Staff Development Centre (Faculty of Humanities), Senior Lecturer Dr. Samanthi Jayawardena, Director- Research Centre (Faculty of Humanities), Ven. Prof. Therele Dhammarathana Thero, Head- Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Heads of Departments of the Faculty of Humanities, other academic staff members and faculty board members graced the event.
