The Department of Modern Languages plans to offer Spanish Language as a main subject of B.A. Degree from 2018 /2019 academic year. A Spanish Language expert has been dispatched to the University of Kelaniya by Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.

Spanish Language expert Ms. Ana Fernandez Ruda met the Vice chancellor at the University of Kelaniya on the 03^rd of September 2019 at the Vice- Chancellors Office. Present at the occasion were Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, Dean- Faculty of Humanities and Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilrukshi Rathnayake, Head- Department of Modern Languages.

Spanish Language is one of the most popular languages in the world and Sri Lankan students will be benefitted in many ways by learning Spanish language as a part of their Degree.
