18 academic staff members of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya received President’s Awards for Science Publication. They received the awards for Research and Scientific Publication in the year 2016.

The ceremony which was jointly organized by the Presidential Secretariat, National Research Council and Ministry of Science, Technology and Research was held under the patronage of His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, the President of Sri Lanka on the 19th of November 2018 at the Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. 338 scientists and researchers were appreciated at the ceremony which was graced by Hon. Mohan Lal Grero, State Minister of Science, Technology and Research.

Cadre Chair and Senior Prof. H.J. De Silva, Prof. M. A. Niriella and Dr. Shaluka F. Jayamanna – Department of Medicine, Prof. Madawa Chandratilake- Department of Medical Education received the Awards.

Cadre Chair and Prof. E. G. D. S. Rajindrajith and Senior Lecturer Dr. D. S. G. Mettananda- Department of Paediatrics, Cadre Chair and Prof. N.R. De Silva and Senior Prof. N. K. Gunawardena- Department of Parasitology, Prof. H. Asita de Silva- Department of Pharmacology also received the President’s Awards.

Prof. Deepthi C. De Silva and Cadre Chair and Prof. Niranga Devanarayana- Department of Physiology, Cadre Chair and Prof. A. R. Wickremasinghe, Prof. A. Pathmeswaran and Senior Lecturer Dr. K. T. A. A. Kasturirathna- Department of Public Health, Retired Cadre Chair and Senior Prof. Kemal Deen, Department of Surgery received the Awards.

Moreover, Dr. Dileepa Ediriweera, Lecturer- Computer Centre (Faculty of Medicine), Mr. B.A. Wijayawickrama and Mr. W.S.A.A.T. Udara, Demonstrator- Department of Medicine received awards at the ceremony.
