International Conference on Applied and Pure Sciences (ICAPS) organized by the Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya was held on the 29th of October 2021 at the university premises.
It was held for the 06th consecutive time under the theme “Green Technology Towards a Knowledge-Based Economy”.
The objective of this international conference was to contribute sustainable development by establishing a platform for academia, researchers, industrialists, innovators, and entrepreneurs to share academic and practical knowledge about green technology.
Keynote speech was given by Senior Prof. Veranja Karunaratne, University of Peradeniya under the theme “Precision Release Fertilizer for Smart Agriculture: A Tale of Green Discovery from Sri Lanka”.
Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Prof. S.R.D. Kalingamudali, Dean- Faculty of Science, Senior Prof. N.A.K.P.J. Seneviratne, Chairman- Research Council, Prof. Suranga Wickramarachchi, Chairman- ICAPS, Senior Lecturer Dr. Anupama Daranagama, Secretary- ICAPS, Prof. Mala Amarasinghe, Chief Editor- ICAPS Editorial Board, and other academic staff members attended the event.
Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, all sessions were held virtually.
Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Software Intensive Systems, and Multidisciplinary Research were the 04 main tracks offered by the ICAPS 2021 to present research findings, innovations, and ideas. More than 150 research papers were presented in 26 academic sessions. Soft copies of the research papers will be launched later.
